Create a variety of signature pasta dishes with this Barilla Protein+ farfalle pasta. Originating in the Lombardia and Emilia-Romagna regions of Northern Italy, farfalle dates back to the 1500s and is one of the oldest pasta shapes! Translating to “butterfly” in Italian, farfalle is also commonly referred to as bowtie pasta for its rectangular shape that is pinched in the middles. Farfalle pairs well with light, creamy sauces with vegetables and seafood as well as with oil-based sauces and in pasta salads. Use it to make a Mediterranean style pasta salad or more traditional Italian dishes like the aromatic farfalle alla caprese. No matter how it’s prepared, Barilla pasta is trusted among Italian chefs and remains Italy’s #1 brand of pasta for its reliability in texture and ability to complement fresh ingredients and bold flavors.

This innovative pasta is made with golden wheat flour and protein from lentils, chickpeas, and peas to deliver the classic taste and “al dente” texture your customers crave, with the added benefit of additional protein, fiber, and minerals. A healthful alternative to traditional pasta, this pasta consists of 100% plant-based protein to create a well-rounded meal. To prepare, use 4-6 quarts of water per pound of pasta. Bring to a rolling boil and add salt to taste. Add the pasta to the boiling water, stir gently, and return to a boil. For “al dente” pasta, boil uncovered for 11 minutes, stirring occasionally. For more tender pasta, boil for an additional minute. Remove from the heat and drain well. Simply add your preferred ingredients, plate, and serve!
